But let’s just start with 1963, when Natan Wekselbaum and his brother left Cuba for New York City and opened up a little neighborhood hardware store on the Upper East Side. Nuts. Bolts. Nothing fancy.
Well, as everyone knows, New Yorkers don’t exactly fall all over themselves every time a new shop cuts its ribbon—but the charming duo made Gracious Home stand out. They gave the red carpet treatment to every person who walked through the door. Will you deliver it? Of course. Can you install it? Our pleasure. Can you find one in chartreuse? We'll scour the globe.

A brilliant designer and master craftsman, Mr. Villency crafted his pieces with impeccable attention to detail infused with the design sensibility of his native Europe. We first opened our doors in 1962 as a family business. A husband and wife team named Gordon and Carole Segal, and one (yes, count them... one) eager sales associate who was enthusiastic about their vision. One can only imagine the office parties they had. Table for three, please. Fast forward forty years. And did it ever go fast. Today's Crate and Barrel family has grown to over 115 stores and over 6000 associates nationwide. And, we might add, still growing. While we are proud of our growth and achievements over the years, we feel it is what we fondly call the "3 P's" that has kept our vision and product as fresh and invigorated as the day we opened.

Ligne Roset has grown from a small business making bentwood walking sticks founded by Antoine Roset in 1860 in Montagnieu, France to a multinational contemporary furnishings company with factories in France, headquarters in Briord, France and totaling more than 200 exclusive Ligne Roset stores and 1,000 retail distributors worldwide.

When Beth Colosimo was growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, there was always a room or two in her parents’ home where she and her friends were not allowed to go. She remembers going to her Grandma’s home where the lampshades were covered in plastic and the sofas were covered in sheets. Sitting on the furniture or even going in those rooms was almost forbidden. Beth always wondered what the purpose was of furniture that she couldn’t use.

The first of his signature collections, this hand-finished and one-of-a-kind line is the essence of understated elegance, combining Van Den Brulle's passion for beauty with an insistence on fine craftsmanship and high quality.

Paul Vetrano, supplies the chairs for about 40 percent of Manhattan's restaurants, in the showroom of his business, New York Chair Co. in Manhattan. Whatever the cuisine, restaurant supplier Paul Vetrano has the seat to match. Everyone opening a restaurant these days hopes to emulate the runway success if the perpetually packed Balthazar in Soho, right down to the retro brasserie's signature stool: a clubby wine colored padded vinyl cushion with brass nailheads astride a mahogany frame. ItÕs the hot new trendsetter stool. Everybody wants it, says Paul Vetrano. He should know Vetrano sells chairs and stools to 40 percent of New York City's 10,000 eateries and many outside of the city, from dumpy diners and Asian noodle houses to sleek coffee bars and posh French brasserie's. While a chair may not be the focal point of the restaurant, says Vetrano, it's rolled in the overall dinning experience cannot be under estimated.

The Paul Weise Furniture Company. Located on the corner of Farwell and Albion Streets on Milwaukee’s East Side, it presently occupies the same site that it was founded on 1886. Through the years the original building has been expanded and modernized, yet its sense of historic importance and the prestige of housing one of the area’s finest furniture establishments. The business, founded by Paul Weise, was originally a cabinet making shop and upholstery firm. Over the years selected lines of quality furniture were added, draperies were custom-made on the premises and complete design services were made available to clients.
